Master’s programme in Political Philosophy
The MA program in Political Philosophy is designed for students who are interested in philosophical refl ection on most complex and substantial issues underlying contemporary politics. Political Philosophy is a discipline that studies the ways, in which people order their collective life, what good and just society is, and how our critical capacity and individual agency can transform the world we live in. it also explores varied contexts that shape politics as it is lived and experienced by individuals, looking for the political in the everyday interplay of formal institutions, local social relations and individual life strategies.
The MA program in Political Philosophy off ers a range of courses in modern political theory and training in research skills, which would enable its graduates to work both in governmental and non-governmental organizations in administrative positions and at various academic establishments, as researchers or teachers. the program draws on the extensive tradition of political theorizing, yet the current Western-European oriented canon of political theory is balanced with major achievements in the study of politics by Eurasian and russian thinkers. our Ma program is designed around comparative and cosmopolitan research agenda that aims at educating expert researchers as well as competent citizens of the world.
The MА program in Political Philosophy at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences is one of the few MA programs in this fi eld existing in Russia, and the only international one, with program’s core courses taught in English. In addition to the local faculty, many of whom hold international graduate degrees, classes are taught by visiting professors from the central European University (hungary), Utrecht University (Netherlands), and other partner institutions. the program’s core faculty is comprised of researchers, whose scholarly work on modernity, toleration, individuality and other topics in modern political philosophy acquired national and international acclaim.
Scholarships, which cover tuition and provide a monthly stipend are available for international students, based on merit and quality of application materials.
Students in good standing are eligible for the University fellowship that partially covers a semester-long internship in one of partner institutions: Utrecht University (Netherlands), University of copenhagen (Denmark) and other universities.

Master's Programme in Cognitive Neuroscience
The program combines fundamental theoretical training in the field of brain research and neurocognitive processes: neurology, neuropsychology, principles of neuroscience, neurocognitive development of children, methods of brain research andneurorehabilitation. The program structure is a set of interdisciplinary and applied Sciences, which sequentially describe the theoretical and methodological fundamentals of neurocognitive science, to form competence in the field of neuropsychological assessment, building the concept of neurocognitive research, the theoretical analysis of the research problem, conceptual framework, understanding the indicators of neurocognitive research, the development work using modern instrumental methods of brain research, learning behavioral research methods of the brain in norm and pathology. The emphasis is on the study of children.
This program can be useful for researchers and professionals with the aim of improving their skills, mastering practical knowledge and skills in the field of cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychological assessment and neuropsychological rehabilitation, mastering state-of-the art methods in brain and cognitive research.
Master’s programme in Russian Studies
Our Master’s Degree programme in Russian Studies(full-time, 2 years) covers various aspects of Russia’s past and present: language, culture, political and social life. The key issues are identity, modernity and integration in the broader cultural context of Post-Soviet Eurasia, as well as intensive study of Russian language. We provide the courses for those who would like to start a career in exibition buisiness and tourism, mass-media, social centers, cultural foundations or diplomatic agencies.
Identity: defining Russia’s uniqueness
This topic is primarily about the key Russian identity features, including his- torical and cultural heritage of the country. These courses give you an idea of the present-day variety of Russian identities (course examples: Historical Anthropology of Russia, Russian and Soviet Cinema, Russian Political Thought, Tradition and Memory in Post-Soviet Countries).
Modernity: Russia’s place in the changing world
This topic encourages you to take a more critical approach to the experience of the past. These courses focus on the issues of development and change in the social and political life of modern Russia, while providing a global com- parative prospective (course examples: The Concepts of Modernity, Art and Litereture in Modern Russia, Social Features of a Post-Soviet City, Speech Practices in Modern Russian Language, Post-Soviet Economy).
Integration: the architecture of post-soviet space
This topic is focused mostly on the transnational integration in post-soviet Eurasia. Diplomacy, collaboration, security and environmental issues - all these questions are raised within the ‘integration’ topic (course examples: Social and Economical Geography, International Security and Collaboration, Cross- Cultural Communications).
Studying Russian language is, of course, an obligatory condition for training of any specialist in Russian Studies. Our Master’s Degree programme offers a possibility for perfecting your fluency in Russian with three different teaching courses and tutorials.
Master’s programme BRICS Countries in the Globalizing World
The programme is organized in the framework of Global Educational Initiative of BRICS University League and presupposes wide academic exchanges with similar programmes of the partner universities in BRICS countries. The name of the programme is BRICS countries in the Globalizing World.
As such the programme is devoted to complex comparative studies of BRICS countries. The special attention is paid to the following themes:
• Interdisciplinary methods of research.
• BRICS countries and current global issues.
• BRICS countries in global economics and politics
The main working language of the programme is English. In the course of study, the student is supposed to choose one of the BRICS countries as her/his major, and to study in one of the partner universities of Global
Educational Initiative of BRICS University League in the chosen country for at least one semester. International experience through study abroad period in the chosen country, thus, is considered as an integral part of the master programme.
