Korean Science and Culture Center Opens at UrFU

The key goal of the center is Korean language classes

The Korean Science and Culture Center was opened at the Ural Institute of Humanities - UrFU on May 29. The auditorium where the center is located was named after late Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea in Yekaterinburg Stanislav Tkhai. The main goal of the center is to teach the Korean language, conduct classes on Korean culture, history, politics, economics.

“Korean studies have been developing dynamically in our university in recent years. Soon one of our students completes a master's thesis on the topic "Children's fiction of the Republic of Korea in the XXI century". We hope to expand the topic as it is our first work on Korean literature in our practice", - said the director of the Ural Federal University undergraduate school Valery Gudov at the opening ceremony.

The center will host classes with Korean partners - universities, scientific groups - in the format of videoconference. The scientific and cultural center will become a platform for holding joint events with the Korean diaspora.

The opening ceremony of the Korean Scientific and Cultural Center was attended by representatives of the honorary consulate of the republic, as well as the national and cultural autonomy of Russian Koreans. They discussed the planned educational and cultural programs. A film about the first honorary consul of Korea in Yekaterinburg was shown in the audience.

As the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea in the Tyumen Region Igor Samkaev noted, the Korean side expresses interest in Russian life.
