Students and professionals from all over the world have started their three-week journey to the Russian language and culture.
For the second year in a row, those interested in the Russian language, culture, history and society take part in the online international summer school “Russian Studies in Real Russia”, the initiative of the Department of Linguistics and Professional Communication in Foreign Languages. This year is a special one as it marks the 11th anniversary of the initiative!
The summer school has brough together the participants from countries all over the world: China, Croatia, Germany, Greece, India and the US. The group is truly diverse, it is comprised of students studying in the world’s leading universities, foreign languages lecturers in universities abroad and accredited translators and interpreters of the highest level.
During the first day of the school, on July 5, 2020, the opening ceremony and greeting session were held. The participants got to know each other, met organizers and the Russian language lecturers. They also had the opportunity to chat with volunteers of the school that study at Ural Federal University, native speakers of Russian.
The school’s participants have started a three-week intensive course of Russian as a second language, interactive lectures on Russian Studies to be delivered by lecturers of the Department of Linguistics and Professional Communication in Foreign Languages and exciting conversations with the school’s speakers, among those are the world figure skating champions. The cultural component of the program includes exploration of Russian cinema, Soviet ballet and even baking blini.
The educational project “Russian Studies in Real Russia” provides international students with the opportunity to learn Russian and deepen their knowledge of Russian Studies: the history of Russia, its today’s realities, the lifestyle of Russian people and the unique Russian culture.
