The lecture was attended by professors and students of the Department of International Relations, other faculties of the Ural Institute for the Humanities, universities and scientific institutes of Yekaterinburg.
On September 15, an open lecture by Alexey Kupriyanov “India in the modern system of international relations” was held at the UrFU Press Center. Mr. Kupriyanov – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Head of the South Asia and Indian Ocean Group of the National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations named after E.M. Primakov of the Russian Academy of Sciences, expert of the Valdai Club and the Russian International Affairs Council. The expert was in Yekaterinburg on a visit at the invitation of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Sverdlovsk Region and the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences for a series of presentations and consultations.
The lecture succinctly and deeply covered several topical issues: the development of theoretical approaches to understanding the topic, India in the system of international relations in historical retrospective and modern conditions, the peculiarities of India's foreign policy, Russian-Indian relations, the development of interregional cooperation and the prospects of Indology in Russia. Mr. Kupriyanov especially drew attention to the need to develop the Indological direction in the Urals, given the growing Russian Indian interaction. The audience asked many questions and received detailed analytical answers.
