They took part in the conference "Urals in the Soviet period"
Staff of the Ural Federal University took part in the scientific and practical conference "Urals in the Soviet period 1922-1991", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the USSR.
At the conference, which was held at the Verkhoturye State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve, historians spoke about political repressions, industry and the exploits of the Urals. In particular, Professor of the Department of History of Russia (UrFU branch in Verkhnyaya Salda) Vladimir Pryadein spoke about the history of the formation and development of the titanium industry in the Urals. Lidia Baranova, Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Studies of UrFU, addressed the problem of relations between the intelligentsia of the Urals and the structures of power in the USSR.
It should be noted that a cultural and educational program was organized for the participants of the conference; they demonstrated that Verkhoturye is a spiritual and significant cultural and historical center of the Urals. According to Lidia Baranova, the museum's expositions were designed and created by scientists from the Faculty of History of the Ural State University (now Ural Federal University). Today, their work is continued by graduates of the Faculty of History, maintaining a close relationship with the alma mater.
