Assistant of the Department of Theory and History of International Relations UrIH UrFU establishes scientific cooperation between Russia and Syria
From December 12 to 18, Al-Sham University (Damascus) hosted an international conference «The Evolution of Russian-Syrian Relations in a Changing World Order: Problems and Prospects», organized by the Primakov Center and the Gorchakov Foundation.
Yulia Filaretova, an assistant at the Department of Theory and History of International Relations of the UrIH UrFU, became one of the five young researchers selected as a member of the Russian delegation based on the results of a competition of analytical works. At the conference, an employee of the Ural Institute of Humanities made a presentation on the evolution of Russian humanitarian diplomacy in Syria, its trends and development prospects.
The conference participants also visited the ministries of economy and foreign affairs of the Arab Republic. Yulia Filaretova, as member of the Russian delegation, was able to meet with the Deputy Minister of Economy for International Cooperation Rania Ahmad. In addition, Dean of the Diplomatic Academy of the Syrian Foreign Ministry Imad Mustafa, who, together with a team of diplomats, discussed promising areas of cooperation between Russia and the Syrian Arab Republic, received the delegation with pleasure.
During the trip, Yulia Filaretova visited the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Damascus and met with its head, Nikolai Sukhov. The series of events ended with a meeting with Azret Kalmykov, World Health Organization coordinator in Syria, who discussed the humanitarian situation in the country with young researchers.
