In 2023, UrIH launched a new program "World History in Global and Regional Dimensions"
The master's program focuses on training specialists capable of effective international professional activity in the field of intercultural interaction between the West and the East.
The program focuses on world history in the context of cross-cultural interaction between different peoples and civilizations. Historical translation requires knowledge not only of a foreign language, but also of the historical context, writing features of the corresponding era, terms, text aesthetics, etc. Professionals with such competencies are in demand on the market; they are actively involved in the preparation of scientific research, project activities in the field of culture, linguistics, international relations, etc.
The program was prepared by the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History together with the Chair of the History of the Ancient World and the Middle Ages of the UrIH UrFU: “I would like to draw attention to the innovative nature of the announced program. The search for common ground between different cultures and civilizations in the global space is a topical issue as never before. At the heart of scientific research is the “new global history”, which combines traditional global history and the civilizational approach that has been developed in Russian historiography in the last 30 years. The high academicism of the program, which we are trying to maintain, is the level of modern current world historiography, and in this sense, we are at the forefront,” says Veronika Vysokova, Head of the program, professor at the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History.
It will take 2 years to prepare students on the program "World History in Global and Regional Dimensions".
