Project-based training was launched for UrFU students to prepare for public service
In UrFU, 76 students receive training by the autonomous non-profit organization "Dialogue Regions" - the parent organization of the Regional Management Centers (RMC). Numerous workshops in the field of media communications and analysis of the information field of the Ural Federal District awaited them, representatives of the project told URA.RU.
“The advantage of project-based learning is that the guys, in the process of completing their assignment, analyze the current information agenda of the regions of the Ural Federal District. They communicate with experts, conduct sociological research, record media trends, and summarize information. The final student projects can be used in the work of the SDGs of the Ural Federal District, in the field of state and municipal government, in business structures. In addition, most importantly, after such an internship, students already quite easily navigate the regional information agenda. This is their significant advantage for future employment,” commented Olga Frolova, Head of the district coordination center of the Ural Federal District “Dialogue of the Region”.
The format of project-based learning involves a large number of workshops. Students solve real production problems for university partner enterprises. Anna Gurariy, Director of the School of Political and Social Studies of the Ural Institute of Humanities, notes that this allows not only to significantly strengthening students theses, but also provides a number of advantages.
“Thanks to this approach, firstly, the guys in practice understand what the value of fundamental, theoretical disciplines is. Secondly, they learn to work in a team and see what professional and personal qualities are worth developing. Thirdly, they look closely at the labor market, professions and evaluate their career opportunities. I am very pleased that students can unlock the full potential of project-based learning in cooperation with the federal customer Dialog Regions, for which we have already implemented a number of projects,” Anna Gurariy noted.
