Bert van den Brink is a Professor of Political and Social Philosophy at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, and is acclaimed for his research on democracy, pluralism, and civil conflicts. He earned his PhD from the Utrecht University in Political Philosophy in 1997. Since 2012, he is the vice-dean of the Faculty of the Humanities at Utrecht University. His publications include “Tragedy of Liberalism: An Alternative Defense of a Political Tradition” (SUNY, 2000) and “Recognition and Power: Axel Honneth and the Tradition of Critical Theory,” co-edited with David Owen (Cambridge University Press, 2007). At the Centre, Bert van den Brink supervises the research group on recognition.
